New DMC colors

DMC is releasing 16 new colors this month here in the US, not sure about the European market. Please add these to the DMC color range. Retail outlets are currently taking advance orders for the floss, which is only available in packs.

Someone is sending me the pack as soon as they get it in the UK. The earliest I can have the new range is 24th as I will be in USA until then.

I talked to DMC at the UK trade show today and they said these colours are just specials made for particular retailers in the USA and would only be available in packs and for a limited time. I would therefore not recommend making commercial designs with them. If anyone wants the DMC range in the software with the extra colours, I have it available but will not be making it part of the standard range. The colours have not been measured like our normal colours but have been created as between the two colours that DMC say are either side of each new colour.

I contacted DMC regarding recent changes in colors in the US market and received a response that is somewhat different. The DMC rep told me the 16 new colors are a permanent addition to the palette, just the packs are temporary. The colors are going to be introduced individually in a few months, or a few years. The rep was quite vague on this point.

Also, several colors that had been discontinued in the European market but were still available in the US are now to be discontinued in the US as well. These are 504, 731, 776, 781, 806, 971 and 3773. This development is not unexpected. These colors will continue to be available at US shops until the supply runs out.
