New update subscriptions by PayPal

Postby DPSoftware » Sat Mar 22, 2014 2:30 pm

As you may know, the Platinum versions come with 2 years free updates when you register. Additional years can then be purchased to continue getting the latest versions. These have been available in 1 year, 5 year and lifetime packs and you needed to purchase any missing years if your updates had lapsed.

Now we have a PayPal subscription option available. This costs $10 per year ($30 for Publisher edition) which is the same annual cost as the 5 year option. Your PayPal account is charged each year starting with the date you purchase the subscription until you cancel it. Your access to updates is extended by 1 year for each payment received.

As a limited time special offer for taking out a subscription, your access will be restored without having to purchase any missing years - so only one payment for the next years updates regardless of how long ago you purchased (as long as you have a Platinum version for Windows).

The original update packages continue to be available but are subject to buying any missing years for lapsed accounts as before.

If your software is not too old, you can get links to all the update options by selecting "Purchase Add-ons" from the Help menu of the software. This will ensure you only see options that are for your version.

For older Platinum versions that do not have the Add-ons menu item, you can find your options here:

If you have software that you have not registered, you can do so by clicking the create account link at the following page and choosing your own ID/Password. You then have to wait for an approval email:

If you don't have a PayPal account, you will be prompted to set one up when you click the purchase link for the subscription - PayPal will not allow purchasing a subscription without an account. If you are purchasing the non-subscription options then you do not need a PayPal account.

Anyone who purchased the download version from the UK or Euro Softshop store with the registration backup option may get a renewal notice from Softshop. Please note that unless you want guaranteed 24/7 access to your unlock code, you don't need to purchase this. I will always remind you of a code for free - just might not be as fast.

Finally if anyone has a version (reported in About from the Help menu) that is earlier than 2014 but you are not offered the latest version when you check, you should login at www.dpsoftware.com/register and manually update. This will give you the latest version and allow the automatic updates to continue in future.

Just to clarify a point that seems to confuse some users. If you continue to purchase additional years or take out the PayPal subscription, it gives you access to all updates so there are no major version updates to buy in future. This applies even if we change the name of the program.

The only exclusions are additional products like add-on modules, motif libraries and the like and of course if you want to move from basic to Plus edition or Plus edition to Publisher edition.

If you don't want to keep up the additional years, I recommend you burn your latest version to CD so that you can re-install when you lose access to the update downloads.
