After registration you get free access to the latest version download for 2 years from purchase (or from first recorded use if not purchased direct)
After 2 years, you can purchase additional years to continue getting the latest versions. You need to purchase all missed years if its already lapsed. You can also consider upgrading from standard to Plus or Plus to Publisher which resets your registration date to gain 2 years from the current date without the need to purchase missing years.

Any earlier version can be upgraded to Platinum Plus
Or you can upgrade any earlier version direct to Platinum Publisher
